With Friends Like These.
Tuesday, Feb. 15, 2005, 12:37

Last night I had dinner with a group from work that we affectionately call The Lonely Hearts Club of TCTCH. This is the third year in a row that I have attended. The group has been doing this for the past five. This year there were nine of us in attendance.
We met at the Olive G@rden and had great food, fine wine and glorious laughter. We looked just like the commercials of a family passing the plate around for everyone to sample the food and drinking from each others glasses, all talking with our mouths full saying things like "You have got to try the seafood dip!" and "Is that calamari?" Those girls all have a story to tell and its truly a mystery why there are not "significant others" in their lives. We also have one lonely man who looked like the premier pimp daddy sitting at the head of the table with eight women lining the sides.
Tim has been married twice and burned badly both times. He is 50ish, extremely caring, kind and gentle. He always buys trinkets for us girls at work because he absolutely cannot resist the lure of Big Lots. One of my best friends, Felecia was there because her jobless, worthless, live in boyfriend has gotten on her last nerve. She left him at home to watch her children ;). Lori has been married twice. Her first husband was extremely cruel to her and her second was an absolute angel. He unfortunately was killed in a plane crash a couple months ago and this was to be her first Valentine's Day without him. Cherry has been in love only one time in her life and he died after a lengthy illness. That was nearly 20 years ago and she still clings to his memory. Laura was involved with a Player who decided that he didn't want to be involved after she got pregnant. Hmmm , sounds like someone else we know. Barb is one of the best women I know. She is funny, smart and extremely giving. She was cruelly burned and is only seeking friends at the moment. Myra is very happily married and agreed to come along so that Lori would and we were so glad that she did. Tricia is the instigator of all this commotion. She is the one that introduced me to the concept of on line dating. At first I thought it was really weird, now I find that its the only way to go!!
We all had such fun that we talked of planning another outing soon, maybe even for St Patty's day, *wink, wink. That day would have been the tenth anniversary for the Player and I. That seems like reason enough to celebrate, the fact that I didn't end up wasting ten years of my life on him.
Although, you know there is something about good food, fine wine and seeing other couples in love that makes me extremely horny. Maybe it does still suck to be single. Nah, its not so bad with friends like these.
